In the third numbers round, there was another solution available: 100 x 5 = 500 500 - 25 = 475 75 + 7 = 82 475 x 82 = 38950 38950 / 50 = 779 It doesn't look like it, but it's based on factoring the target. 779 is the product of two primes, 41 x 19. 475 is 25 x 19 and 82 is 41 x 2, so multiplying them both together and then dividing by 50 is the equivalent of cancelling the 25 and the 2 (since 25 x 2 = 50) for 41 x 19 = 779.
